I promise I have lots to share

So I have everyday written down and I promise it will be updated this weekend But I am going home the very long adventure home has just started!!!!!!!!!! YEY 

SHOPPING

Today was a lot like last Tuesday I spent the morning getting ready to leave for Pokhara and playing with Ethan and at lunch we are both on a all carb diet of pasta and bread and we throw in other things but it is a lot of pasta and bread (thank God we leave this hotel and pasta bar tomorrow) then this afternoon I went shopping and got a ton more presents and a t-shirt for myself and then tonight I got measured for a shirt that is being made for me and so I am really excited I will get it Sunday night when we get back to this hotel! But tomorrow we are off to the mountains and then back to the elephants so I am not sure when I will be posting but whenever I get internet I will update you on everything!

A list of things I have gotten for me (because it is hard for me to buy things for me but I DID it!)

• A cute winter hat (because it was cute, cheap, and I may need it sometime, and it is my colors pink and brown!)
• A couple scarfs that are to die for! OMG I love them!
• A t-shirt
• The new shirt!
• A journal with handmade paper!

So I think there is more but I can't remember what is for me and what is for other people at the moment LOL I think that means I need to go to bed!

What a Day

Whew today was a busy but good day! It started out with going down to Grandma's room to wake her up but she was already up LOL so we hung out down there for a while then we went to breakfast and then Grandma and everyone left and it was Ethan and I for the morning and early afternoon. So we played in and outside, watches a little movies, the usual had lunch in the restaurant. Then we got a call to get ready and go down to the lobby so we did. We got picked up by J'lien, Grandma, and everyone else adn went to a place that was started in Tibet looong aog and now is in Nepal as well and it is where Monks pray. So we got to see the outside, watch the monks pray, walk on top and shop! Then we came back to the hotel had dinner and went to bed! So we could be ready to begin again the next day at the crack of dawn!

Sweet 4 Year Old Boy's

I have a lot of 4 year old boys in my little world and they are all so sweet and I love them so much but here are two really cute stories about 2 of my favorites! 

Today I was looking at myself in the mirror and thinking to myself I am so sick of these clothes, it will be nice to straighten my hair again, and so on and Ethan looks at me and he goes "Sam you are beautiful!" How sweet is that? It made me feel so much better!

Then today I also got an e-mail from Katherine and it had this in it!...  "Theodore was blowing really loud into the trumpet the other day... He said he was blowing so hard and loud because he wanted you to hear it on the other side of the world" This was also put on my Facebook! "I am Theodore's best friend. And he love's me and We play all the time. Love Theodore"

I have some really sweet boy's who I love oh so much! They really make my days!

Sunrise and the Mountains!

Grandma is HERE!

Well this morning started out like normal we played inside and outside had lunch with J'lien had a little down time then GRANDMA came! We were so excited Ethan and I even did a little happy dance in the hallway (his idea!) Then once Grandma got all settled in J'lien, Ethan, Grandma, Diana (Grandma's friend) and I walked to the shopping area! Well it ended up being just Diana and I shopping and oh so much fun did we have! We just laughed and shopped for a long time and I of course bought more things! But then we came back to the hotel via bike taxi and he charged us more for all of our stuff! It still only cost us like $4 dollars so we really can't go to wrong... 

But yesterday was just kind of a slow day and it was nice! 

But Ethan did tell me when I was tucking him in that he loves me sooo much like more then you can imagine and that I am the best! That helps me when we have hard moments to just remember that they go away and I can do things right!

Day 13

So today was the first full day back at Yak and Yeti! We just had one of our normal day's had breakfast (but we were not the first one's there YEY!) played in the room and outside (we kind of just go in and out all day LOL) we watched a little more TV then normal some of us (meaning the boy) were a little off and just needed some down time I think.

Then we tried to go out for lunch with J'lien but it is Saturday here and all the restaurant's were closed so we went back and just had lunch at the hotel. Then Ethan and I went out to a couple store's and I got more Christmas presents :) and we looked at a very pretty jacket for my mommy but there were 2 problems with it 1) it was not long enough she has very long arms! 2) it was $250 American dollars... Sorry mom I do love you just not that much since I have already spent money on you! But I do love you and can't wait to see you in less then 2 weeks and I know you will have some MILK (SKIM) waiting for me, because I feel my bones getting weaker everyday and I really want to be able to hold BABY!!!!!! 

And tomorrow is going to be a really exciting day! GRANDMA comes (Ethan's not mine) She is joining us for the rest of the trip so this week she is doing work with J'lien and next week playing with us (but even tho she is working I'm sure still playing too) 

That is all for tonight I am getting ready for bed (yes it is 8 but I am going to read and enjoy the quiet! Before we begin again tomorrow)

You learn something new everyday!

So I was told where we were when I saw the sunrise and went para gliding! So we hiked the Sarangkot and was looking at Himalaya Mountain Range which includes Mount Everest! Pretty cool stuff huh?!

So I am turning into more of a mom then I already am... here are some cute things said by Ethan

• I have love dreams about love of God, Love of friends, and love of Obama not McCain (he is sooo J'lien's child!) 
• Also he has been telling people he has a brother at home named Jack how cute is that???

So there are more things but I just can't remember them right this second!

But it is getting colder here sooner in the day then when we got here 2 weeks ago (which I like the cold but I want snow if its cold not just cold!)

"GIve me a year and I'll show you the World" (day 12)

That is what J'lien told me when I took this job and let me tell you it is soooooooooo true. Today I got up at 5 am to take a sunrise hike (yes this is me we are talking about and I am not sick) and oh my it was so pretty. We hiked a long steep way up the mountains and saw the moon (which was full) on one side and the sunrise on the other side over other mountains. The colors were sooo pretty. It was worth the hike and the early hour!

Then if that was not enough for the day we drove up the same mountain and I went PARA GLIDING off it! 30 Minutes of flying 2000 meters over the village. Oh my what a view (and again a pretty hot guy). Then because I said I liked roller coasters he asked if I wanted to do tricks HELL YEAH was my answer! So we went upside down and around and around in circles! It was the coolest thing ever! Then I had one of the few perfect landings GO ME! and we went and had bento boxes in Nepal for lunch HOW FUN??? Then to the airport for a 22 minute flight instead of a 7 hour drive! Then back to the hotel and me bed just came so I am going to sleep because I have seen the world today! 

Side note... You have got to love that you can travel with a bottle of wine in your backpack at the airport (I also had water bottles too and the wine is not mine I just had room for it!)

What an AMAZING Day (Day 11)

Oh boy today was simply AMAZING for so many reason like there was not a moment today that I didn't enjoy! 

Ill make a list to explain it because I really like lists!

• We had a really good breakfast!
• I got my book out of the bus (I thought I lost it sad face I know)
• Ethan played out in some of the grass while I got to read in the hammack 
• We had a fun time at lunch with good food included
• We walked around and took pictures of the views and flowers
• Gave the fish lots and lots of bread
• Had a little quiet time 
• Ethan watched Tom and Jerry and laughed and laughed
• We played more outside
• We went for a horse ride for like 2 hours 
• I took some pictures of the views from the horse (except I forgot to have one taken of Ethan and I on the horse) 
• It was fun talking to a hot guy closer to my age who happened to be really HOT!
• Ethan and I had a nice dinner in the restaurant of easy Mac!
• We raced back from dinner and it felt good to run (my butt is a little sore LOL)
• We watched a movie 
• He went to bed really well
• I am going to watch a Disney movie that we brought that we have not watched yet
• I am going to go to bed early so tomorrow can be another AMAZING day!

The only part that was not wonderful was the shower pressure it took soooo long to wash my hair and I don't even have that much anymore :( I am starting to really miss my long hair...

I love when days are just perfect it really makes me happy and makes me want to get up and begin again tomorrow! 

Oh and break a leg the cast of "Harvey" they opened Wednesday night and I am sooo sad I am missing it. But I know they are all doing a wonderful job because that is the only thing St. Bernard's theatre department knows how to do is Amazing Wonderful jobs! So BREAK A LEG and I am thinking and praying for you all! 

And a side not and I am sorry about this but it is my blog so I can post this! I gave up shaving my legs while gone because I am only wearing pants and it was one less thing to think about but I am really getting excited to shave them when I get home! 

Oh and I know this is weird coming from me and I am as shocked by it as all of you will be but some day I want to come back to Nepal and hike up this huge mountain to the snow (which it takes a normal person 9 days) to see the yaks and let me tell you the mountain is huge but it just seems so cool and something that would be really fun to do!

Questions 3!

What are you eating? Is the food pretty "American" or are you trying new things? What is the oddest thing you have eaten? Do they have baked goods? I am eating a lot of different things, today so far I have had french toast (with no syrup they don't have it at many places) and chicken sausage, and then some form of fish but it looked like orange chicken and rice and bread, some fruit. I try to eat new things but I also don't always ask what I am eating because I am better off eating something that I don't know! Yak cheese which is really good is pretty odd but I am not sure because I don't ask! Some food is really "American" and others not so much a lot of it is pretty spicy. They have baked goods and really good dessert Ethan's and my favorite is white chocolate moose! 

Is it warm-all day and night? The morning's are a little on the chilly side and that just means a light sweatshirt, then by about 10am it is nice. And to tell you the truth I am not so sure about night because I am asleep by about 9ish every night and Ethan is asleep by 8 at the latest so we don't go outside! (Side note- we are up before 6 most days so that is why I go to bed so early and last night I was asleep before 9 now if I could have only done that in High School!)

Are there bugs? There are bugs especially up in the mountains. But in the city yes there are a little but not a ton nothing that I am too scared of yet... except the ticks... which Ethan got one so now we try to stay away from tree's 

Are there birds? There are birds both big and small... I don't like the big ones one bit they are big, and look mean, and gross. But the little ones I don't mind as much they are cute and don't bother us!

Are you able to do laundry? Ethan and I had a few things watched about a week ago but that is it and it was one pretty small load. We are planning on watching a couple more things this weekend but just a couple it is expensive and we just brought a lot of clothes (but I can fit every thing into a carry on with out the space bags!!!!!) 

What does Ethan do all day? We spend a lot of time playing, we brought a ton and I mean a ton of toys so that keeps him very busy he likes to make up movies with his toys (but I am not allowed to watch them because they are too scary for me) and he also watches movies, we play outside a lot, color, read books, work on letters, go on adventures around the inside and outside of the hotel, today he is going on a pony ride around the town, we do a lot of the same things we would at home just in a different place and not ever really getting in a car. But I also try to keep him to a similar routine as we do at home so quiet time in the afternoon, snacks, going outside, stuff like that just so it's somewhat normal for him.

On a side note! My jeans are getting too big now before I get to excited some of it has to do with them not being washed in like 2ish weeks but they are still too big and I LOVE IT! 

Day 10... A ride like no other!

Today was a busy day! We had to be up, dressed, breakfast (which is always done), and packed by 8:30 so we could go to the eye hospital, Ethan and I played outside and in the bus (next week I will get to go see inside it!) then we hit the road for a very looooong drive up the mountains and boy was it an experience in and of its self! 

I will never complain about any roads or peoples driving again let me tell you! We were driving up a mountain in a bus next to many other buses and trucks and it was very narrow roads and very fast driving... a lot of horn honking and a few close calls oh boy it was something else! Now it was fun it made me feel like I was on a roller coster which I LOVE but 7ish hours of it gets long! But the views were so pretty and we did have a lot of fun on the bus its self. 

We finally made it to Pokhara and the hotel is so pretty all the rooms have views of the mountains there is a whole wall of windows and on the other side is a view of the farms we saw a ton of cows walking down the road this morning! But there is a huge stream of fish, and beautiful flowers Ethan and I are going to explore the hotel this morning and take pictures which I will share in like 2 weeks when I get home! Oh boy the time is flying! 

And a side note we can breath here the air is sooo clean and fresh it is wonderful!

Questions 2

Here are more questions about Nepal and my adventure we call life!

Is the city crowded? The city is pretty crowded not New York City crowed but more so then like Minnesota or Arizona if that makes sense?

Do people talk about Obama? Yes and no people know we got a new President and some say that is very good for everyone and others ask if that is good, but if you meet anyone from America they all talk about it!

Are there newspapers? Do they cover what is going on in America? There are newspapers we have one that comes to our room everyday and it is very small but it kind of covers a little of everything but not to the extent of anything in the states but I have seen other newspapers I'm not sure what they are like. We have CNN and The New York Times on the computer that we look at a lot!

Do children there go to school? Children go to school probably not all of them but a lot do and they all wear uniforms (when we were driving up the mountain yesterday I saw a lot of kids walking home in their uniforms from school.

How do they feel about Americans? Are they interested in you? They ask you for money on the street or to buy things a lot and when you walk into a store they stop whatever they are doing to show you there things and try and get you to again buy it. But any that I have talked to are very nice and welcoming

Are there cars? There are cars lots of vans and little cars but a ton of motorcycles and vespas like a lot and we ride around in either smaller and not as nice coach buses or vans which are pretty nice!

I went for a walk (day 9)

Today Ethan and I played this morning inside, and outside, he watched a little movie while I got our stuff packed up so that tomorrow we can take a 6 hour bus ride to a new location for a couple days (I don't know where we are going or I would tell you!) Then J'lien got back early and I got some time off! 

So I went for a walk...

I walked and looked

I walked and for the first time liked not having my phone

I walked till I could not walk anymore then I turned around

I walked the other direction 

I walked and looked at people

I walked and took in the smells

I walked and took in the sounds

I walked and took in the sights

I walked into stores

I walk by myself

I walked and did not talk

I walked and felt blessed 

I walked tried to figure out how to help people

I walked and realized it's good to live in America 

I walked and walked into stores and had people stop to help me

I walked and wished more people would feel blessed for what they have 

I walked and saw trash every where

I walked and breathed in bad bad air

I walked and saw people selling stuff on the street to try and make some money

I walked and saw ambulance go by with sirens on and cars not move

I walked and took it all in and boy was there a lot to take in

I walked and had creepy men whistle at me

I walked and had people ask for money

I walked for my own good

I walked and it felt good 

I walked

And that was my afternoon and I feel so much better after I walked, but I also feel bad because nobody should live like these people do and some of these people are way better off then others and they still have nothing. Feel blessed for what you have little or big because it is more then most. That is my lesson of the day.

What I am Excited About!

I love being on this new adventure in my life don't get me wrong but I am starting to miss things back home so here is the list of the things I am excited about seeing, doing, or getting when we get back in a little more then 2 weeks...

1. See Lee to have my eyebrows done
2. Getting my phone back I just feel so out of the loop without it
3. Going to a movie with my movie buddy!
   
4. Seeing baby everyday (and mom and Jack too!)
   
5. Wearing flip flops
   
6. Having more then a few items of clothes to pick from
7. A few minutes to myself in a car with the radio blasting
8. Going to church to see all my kids and friends
9. My BED
10. Mom's cooking
11. A oven I am sooooo ready to bake and bake Christmas treats!
12. To decorate and get presents ready for CHRISTMAS!
13. To play cards with mom and Michelle
14. Ice cream with Jackson
15. My cell phone
16. Season 4 of Grey's!
17. Clean clothes!
18. To paint my toes (I forgot my nail polish)

20. To upload pictures to both Facebook and here!

I really am having a great time and am loving this but I am missing some things and people! But I am also sooo happy with the choice I made and would not give it up for anything!

I am getting the best of many worlds!

Day 8

So today was a really quiet day... We didn't even leave the hotel (which was kind of nice to not really have to do anything!) We just played toys, built forts, played outside, watched movies, had torture times, read books, walked around the hotel, and had a really nice day!

The people who work in the restaurant are starting to know us and think that I am Ethan's mom (and that J'lien is his grandma...but that is another story) and they notice how we come to breakfast and lunch everyday and how we don't leave the hotel that much! Haha is it bad when people notice that?

The room services people also see me in my pj's every night (twice a night actually) with out fail and you know what I am totally okay with them seeing me in my pink plaid pants and dog pound shirt!

Today is our last day at this hotel for 2 days so I will be busy getting everything ready to go! Wish me luck!

Day 7

Today we really just stayed in the room and played, watched Spongebob, colored, read books, and had quiet time! Which I was in no way complaining! But we did venture down stairs for lunch and Ethan found out he really likes Asian noodles and white chocolate moose! Which I have to say were both very good! I was sure full after that meal!

Then when J'lien got back in the afternoon we went for a walk to a shopping area that oh boy when I go back by myself I will come back with soooo many more treasures! It was such a cool all these little shops and stands I will never have to buy anything in the states again! So next week I am going to go and explore it more! 

But for the way home since we had wine, water, snacks, and Ethan we took a bike taxi back to the hotel and man did the guy have some amazing leg muscles! And it was a pretty far distance that he biked and it was only $2 American dollars it is amazing how cheap things are here! But they can also be expensive it is so crazy! 

I am still on the look out for a t-shirt tho! 

Day 6

So today was a really lazy day! We played outside most of the morning then spent the afternoon in the room watching movies, reading, and playing! Ethan's favorite game to play right now is hide and seek (but its really watch were you hide and then yell boo at the person) and he really likes making movies that I am not allowed to watch because they are "too scary" for me! 

But Ethan's up at 5:30 is taking its toll on us at about 6 tonight we were both about to fall asleep reading books in bed and Ethan just about fell asleep in his dinner! But I managed to keep him up till 7:30 and my goal is to make it till 9 at night and most night's that is pushing it! I am becoming really lame, but my thought is I spent all of last year trying to sleep if I can actually sleep now might as well take it! 

Side note~ about the pictures in the last post The tiger one is just one of the really good one's J'lien got and the one of me and the elephant is when I was helping giving her a bath (that is the one with Spencer eyelashes!) 

Well I am off to finish "Marley and Me" which is a really good book I say everyone should read it plus the movie is coming out soon! And the sooner I finish this one I can start the book about the Lion from the "Wizard of Oz" which HELLO the Lion is so my favorite character!

Day 5... Questions about Nepal

So today was basically the start of J'lien's working so it was an Ethan Sam day! 

We started bright and early (we were the first at breakfast) and then just spent the morning outside, watching movies, playing toys, and having a lazy day (we both needed it) Then we J'lien came back I went out shopping and I basically got all my Christmas shopping done! And for a much better price then I would pay in the states! I just have a few more people and things and something for me but things are very nice, pretty and good priced but you can also talk them down which makes it better! 

Oh and a side note... I have put on more shoes and socks today then you could ever imagine both Ethan and I don't like wearing then so we take them off every time we enter the room and every time we need to leave we have to put them back on... it gets old fast! LOL 

So Katherine has asked me a lot of questions about Nepal and my life here so I thought I would share them all with you here... If anyone else has questions email or comment them to me and I will do a part 2 or more to this! 

Side note the bottom questions are her first ones and the top ones are the newest ones sorry!

Are you having a wonderful time? I am having an AMAZING time! Its a chance of a life time and I'm so glad I am doing this! Yes there are stressful moments and times I want to be able to see and talk to my friends and family but Im seeing places I would never see and doing things I would never be doing! It beats college sooo much!

Do you feel safe? I feel very safe. I just went and walked around close to the hotel all by myself and didn't feel scared at all. 

What are you eating? I am eating lots of different things some American, some Nepal (there is a proper name but I can't think of it) and lots of others. My goal is to try new things every day things I would not normally try! And so far I have not found things I really dislike off the top of my head I really like yak cheese and buffalo who would have thought LOL!

Are there HUGE bugs or lizards? I have not really seen any HUGE bugs except a grasshopper but it didn't scare me and I have not really seen any bugs that I don't see at home but I am in LOVE with these pink dragonfly's they are sooo pretty and every time we see then Ethan points them out because pink is my favorite color (he is pretty cute)

How is Ethan doing? Ethan is doing really good we are starting to fall into a flow which is helping but he is also really use to this. We do have our crazy energy moments but I just have to remind myself he is only 4. 

How many are traveling with you?  Are they nice? For the first half of the trip there are 19 with Ethan, J'lein and I and I have only met 4 but they are very nice and the second part I think there are 6 so 9 with the 3 of us and one is her mom and I really like her and she LOVES me and it will be nice because she will give me a little more of a break 

How is the hotel? The hotel is really nice it is the second best in Nepal and the service is amazing anytime I need anything I have it so fast! At night they come and turn down our beds and it is on just amazing grounds!

How is the food? The hotel food is really good lots to choose from and again nothing I have not liked! I am even starting to like a couple juices and I had soda at lunch (because I like the old bottles it comes in I think it taste better!)

How is the shower? The shower feels good but the water is a little yellow but I just look past that and enjoy the hot water and washing my hair. 

Is it a pretty city? The city is pretty but also very poor :(

Day 4

Today we just left Tiger Mountain after a jeep safari (we saw nothing tho) and then flew back to our hotel! Kind of a boring day but I am not complaining!

Lions & Tigers & Bears oh my... We are sure not in Kanas anymore

Lets start at the at the very beginning its a very good place to start! This morning we went on a elephant ride where we looked for a tiger but we only saw a rhino, deers, and monkeys. Then we had breakfast and went on a boat ride and saw corcs with the most amazing noses ever, more rhinos, and deer (there are over 400 rhino at Tiger Mountain Park) then we played outside, had lunch, saw the elephants played more gave the elephants a bath yes I got in the river and gave then a bath they are so cute and have very fuzzy hair it is so fun to play with and one of them has Spencer eye lashes! Who would have thought! But these big creatures are so nice and sweet and are very good listeners! Then we went on our 3rd safari of the day and this time it was a jeep one and we saw more rhino, deer, crocs, and monkeys, we also saw some cool birds wild pigs and drum roll (Jackson is going to be so jealous) any guesses? Thats right we saw a TIGER! But not just one tiger but THREE TIGERS! A mom and 2 one year old cubs and oh my gosh they are so cute and big an pretty! I was just amazed and let me tell you this beats college! But also this place is so pretty it is green and smells good and has a river and sand. Meredith would be so jealous because it is just perfect. Today was so amazing I saw all those creatures and OBAMA won! And we are coming back in just a couple weeks!  But if you ever go to Nepal go to Tiger Mountain its so worth it and they are so nice and helpful, I love the service. (But I do really miss my skim milk) 

Small Planes... Big Elephants...

This morning we got up had an Amazing pancakes, played in the room and outside and then I got to spend some time on the computer all by myself for awhile which was really nice! and I got to talk to Megan which made my day! Then we got all ready and headed to the airport which is so different then any airport we are use to. We got in a little bus and drove to our plane which my bedroom is bigger then... and I have never felt sick on a plane but this one I did. But at points we were flying in the clouds which was sooooo cool. And we then landed in a grass field which was the airport. And we then ate a really good lunch in a little hut with no walls. Then we took a bus, boat, and jeep to the "resort" and we stayed in a tarzan type house! so far in the little time we have been here we have feed elephants, watched them have a bath. gone on a tiger safari, seen lots of rhinos! What an amazing day and its only the really day two of the month... 

on the plane today I was thinking, missing my friends and family but so glad I made this decision. I could be sitting in class and sometimes when I want to lose my mind I wish for a second that thats what I was doing (but only for a second) Then I get to go on a ride on elephants and I'm so happy with what I chose to do!

I am still alive after 36 hours of traveling...

Well I made it to Nepal! In the process of doing so i skipped a whole day (Sunday November 2, 2008 I sure hope it was a good day for everyone!) I was on 3 airplanes Arizona to LA, LA to Bangkok, Bangkok to Nepal. And we finally made it to the hotel! Which I'm laying in my bed right now because boy does my back hurt... But in our 4 hour layover in Bangkok I got a massage and oh boy it was AMAZING! But I'm still very sore I think it has to do with a very looooong time on an airplane and trying to sleep for some if it and carrying lots of bags long distances. When we made it to Nepal finally it was so fun getting of the airplane because you just walk down the stairs outside right next to the plane (reminds me of the only time I flew to G-Grammys) then we walked into a really hot building and I got my picture taken for my Nepal Visa and once that was done and we found our bags and got money we got in the van and headed to the hotel! The drive was an experience in and of its self... cows on the road, children walking down the street begging on windows, lots of horns going off, crazy drivers, small roads, people making up lanes its fun and sicking at the same time. Nepal is the 3rd or 4th worst developed countries in Asia and you can tell. But it is so cool to see all the fun shops and see what people are selling. The hotel we are staying at is very nice and so are the people but the grounds are just amazing and so is the outside of the hotel. I can't wait to go and explore all around and take pictures because it is just so pretty. 

Side note... This no phone thing was really hard the first couple days but now I feel okay with out it... who would have thought.... but I sure can't wait to see it again!
